We wrapped up Health Week with our annual Sports Day. The weather was great, the sun was shining and there were a lot of parents to support their children. The winners from each class will be announced at assembly next week.
Yesterday the staff vs pupils football match saw an excellent turnout of spectators for a sporting occasion of the highest possible quality. A defensive lapse in concentration from the staff in the early stages of the match saw Kieran in P6 presented with an opportunity to open the scoring that he gratefully took. Thereafter, the staff played their way back into the match and managed to level the scores on the stroke of half-time. In the second half the pace of the game was unrelenting and the action was springing from end to end. With only minutes to go the pupils’ team were awarded a penalty, despatched with aplomb by Megan (p4), Kieran’s younger sister. Sadly, for the staff, there was no last hurrah and the pupils ran out 2-1 winners. Our congratulations to them. We’d also like to say a huge thank you and well done to everyone who contributed their time and money to make the event happen. Although we do not have a final figure yet, there has already been £500 of sponsor money collected, a fantastic total and one that everyone can be proud of.
